"I'm sorry, Anya. Please don't look for me."

Those were the last words he had left Anya before disappearing from her life. Having known him through a shared mind link since the early years of her childhood, she can’t help but feel that his sudden absence means he’s in danger. For that reason, she sets out to find her lost friend with the only knowledge about him she has—the name she had once given him: Raymond.

However, the outside world is much darker than she expected. As her country is torn apart by the tyranny of the Dark Lord Kyros, she soon becomes a primary target, and Anya finds herself thrown into a battle that could determine the future of the entire world. But what will she do when everything she thought she knew begins to crumble to ash around her?

Excerpt from Nebula Andra: Synchronicity Abyss

He concentrated, and the fire turned yet again, veering back towards Anya with ferocious speed. Surprised, Anya leapt back, giving her just enough time to send the attack racing towards the man a second time, initiating a battle that had become a sheer volley of will.

“A fellow Gemini, I see... Let’s see who can keep this up longer!” Damien challenged as he blasted the fire back—this time with more strength.

The young woman kept up her concentration, mentally batting the flames towards her opponent as they kept returning. She couldn’t turn to see how her friends fared—one false move and she’d be charred.

He threw it back again and again, increasing its speed, its strength... Her mind began to falter. Sweat poured down her face as she struggled to keep the attack from hitting her. She couldn’t keep it up much longer, yet her life depended on it.

He again shot the blast back towards her, increasing the flames. She concentrated, but she couldn’t hold it properly with her mind. As the fire closed her, the heat sent twinges of fear rolling over her. She stepped back, holding her arms up in defense.

To her surprise, the fire recoiled just before it hit her, deflected back at Damien by a strength unlike any Anya had been using. She watched it with wide eyes as the gears turned in her head.

“Are you all right?”

She gaped, astonished in the best way possible. That voice could only be one person.

“Ray...!”

“Concentrate, Anya,” he said, his voice even. “I can only help you if you focus on the attack.”

The Eternal Question by Theresa Dawn Sinclair

Title:

The Eternal Question

Author:

Theresa Dawn Sinclair

Series:

The House of Winds Series (Book One)

Genre:

Epic Fantasy

Suitable  for young to old adults, this is aimed at those who enjoy involved unwinding plots, sometimes deep subjects and some conflicted romance along with their violence and adventure.

Book Description

When the Immortal parent, North, discovers his six cherub sons have wreaked havoc by creating a new world and peopling it with humans stolen from a variety of established worlds, he is so furious that he casts them out of The Upper Realm to live their lives out as mortals on Planet Earth.

What he had not reckoned on is that when the boys had taken people, they had done so with total disregard for the time co-ordinates. Thus, one of them ends up as a young man in the world he had created when a child.

The unravelling of the confusion in the new world called Thesos is made more difficult due to human beings’ propensity for inventing history where there is none. The resolution, however, has more to do with something one of the cherubs did during the stage of creation. For pity’s sake and in the complete innocence of his youth, he saved a life.

Excerpt from The Eternal Question

'Where have you two been all morning? I've been waiting for you'.
They fell apart as if her words drove a solid wedge between them, eyes round with shock, breath drawn in a mutual gasp, bodies rigid, suddenly clutched by a terror they could never have imagined the sound which that sweet, lilting voice would engender.

'You look as if you've seen a ghost,' she remarked, skipping lightly as she went to her room, soft white curls bobbing on perfect, straight shoulders.

Parents do not question such a moment as this, not when they have just said goodbye to their only child for the very last time and watched her disappear into the consuming void of Oblivion. No, not if they are wise they don't. They remind themselves that the gods are all-knowing and they are not. They silently repeat the mantra that it was not meant to be that she was stolen from them in the first place, that this was the proper course, that they are seeing what ought to be and therefore what is right. They get down on their knees and thank the gods for this second chance and then they hide the secret of her rebirth forever, never speaking of it whatever the provocation.

That is what the couple did because they were wise, because they could find no other explanation to satisfy themselves, because she had been returned and they could go on as before. They kept quiet about the miracle, they went on with their lives as though today had never happened, and they burned the grey clothes in the incinerator on the First Level.

Ragesong: Awakening by J.R. Simmons

Title:

Ragesong: Awakening

Author:

J.R. Simmons

Series:

The Ragesong Series (Book One)

Genre:

Midgrade/YA Fantasy

Ragesong: Awakening can be enjoyed by children and adult alike.  Anyone interested in exploring a new world and meeting fascinating and exotic creatures will be drawn to the wonder that is Fermicia.  Join Jake and Sam as they attempt to unlock the secrets of Ragesong in a new and exciting land.

Book Description

Jake starts his first day of junior high completely oblivious to the fact that he has been chosen for something incredible. That same afternoon, he learns that he has been marked as one with the power to save an entire kingdom. Through the course of his journey, Jake discovers that his advanced musical abilities are peculiarly connected to a mysterious power known as Ragesong. Joined by a shy, young girl with similar musical talents and two Changelings that hold a fierce loyalty to their homeland and king, Jake must learn to harness this ability in order to survive the dangers of a hostile new world.

Excerpt from Ragesong: Awakening

Lifting his flute to his lips, Jake blew into it, testing the pitch. When it sounded a little sharp, he pulled the head joint out a little and tried again. Once satisfied with the tuning, he glanced up and saw a speculative expression on Ms. Gladwell’s face. He counted to himself and then started to play his song.

The boys who were smirking jerked their heads up straight. Hearing whispers of recognition as he played, Jake smiled inwardly. His mom had been right; the song had gotten their attention. He played through The Legend of Zelda theme song and when he finished everyone started to clap without even waiting for the teacher’s lead. No one was smirking now and a lot of the boys were talking excitedly.

“All right, quiet down now,” said Ms. Gladwell as she attempted to bring the class under control. “That was lovely, Jake, thank you. It brings back memories.” Winking at him, she laughed. “Zelda is one of my favorites, although none of the sequels have held a candle to the original. Graphics aren’t everything you know.”

All the boys started whispering again. Their teacher played games? How cool was that!

“Yes, yes, I play video games! I am not that old,” she continued. “When I was a girl, I played the original first. Now please sit down, Jake, as we still have one more student who would like to play, and then we need to talk about the syllabus before the bell rings.”

As Jake stepped down to take his chair, he spotted an undisguised mixture of jealousy and anger on the face of the girl with the black braid. He felt a little bad as he had not meant to show her up, only to make sure the boys didn’t make fun of him for playing the flute. As he started to take his instrument apart, the red-haired girl stood up in front of the class, holding an alto saxophone.

Feudlings by Wendy Knight

Title:

Feudlings

Author:

Wendy Knight

Series:

Fate on Fire (Book One)

Genre:

Young Adult Urban Fantasy

Feudlings is for anyone who loves a kick-butt mega-tough heroine, a little romance, awesome battle scenes, and amazing friendships.

Book Description

Arianna Delacour has been fighting a war she doesn't believe in since she could burn her first spell, hunting for a nemisis she's never seen just so that she can fulfill a prophesy that has controlled her life since before she was born.
Shane Delyle has lived a charmed life. His biggest worry is which girl he should go out with next. But it is all a lie; a cover to protect a secret that could get him killed. Because the only way to end the war is to kill an enemy he's only glimpsed...or let the enemy kill him.

Fate has brought them together, but it is up to them to decide if they're going to allow a 300 year old prophecy and an ancient war determine their future.

Because to end the war, only one of them can survive. One of them must die...at the hand of the other.

Excerpt from Feudlings

“Shane, I’m tougher than I look. I can handle it,” she said, although she wasn’t sure she wanted to know any more about his magic than she already did. It could get him in trouble. But she couldn’t just leave it alone. Part of her wanted to know. Maybe the monster-killer part of her.

She squashed that thought.

Shane stopped, studied her. Under his intense blue gaze her heart started to pound and she thought giddily that her favorite color just happened to be the exact color of his eyes. What were the odds? “I’m serious, Ari. There’s this war going on, and knowing anything about it could get you killed.”
“Killed?” Ari tried to look dubious.

Shane glanced around and grabbed her hand, pulling her with him out the front doors. The air was crisp and cool; Ari could see traces of her breath. If Shane was aware that half the student population was watching them speed-walk into the woods, he didn’t show it, and after a final glance back Ari ignored them too.

When the school was out of sight, she stopped and pulled her hand away. “Okay Shane. Spill,” she commanded. She crossed her arms over her chest and tried to look cold. Normals would be cold right now, but because of the flames flowing through their blood, neither she nor Shane could feel it.
Shane sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “Where to start? Even the short version is long. We’re sorcerers, and there are two sides to this war… of course, because that’s what makes a war, right?” he rambled. Ari raised an eyebrow at him as she tried to shiver. “I’m a Carules. I have magic that stems from these blue flames that, well, they’re in my blood. Hunter, too. And all other Carules. The other side is Edren, and their magic comes from red flames. Basically, we spend all our time trying to kill each other. It’s a lot of fun,” he said with a bitter frown at the ground.

“So you hide your magic because if an Edren found you...”

“They’d kill me. Or try to, anyway,” Shane finished for her.

Ari flinched at his words, and she knew right then that if she had seen him on that battle field in Adlington, she wouldn’t have been able to kill him. Her eyes widened in shock, her mouth opened into a silent “Oh”, and her heart started to pound. This was a very, very dangerous revelation she’d just made to herself.

She had a weakness. And it was Shane.

The Chronicles of Irindia; Book One: The Gatherer by D. John Watson

Title:

The Chronicles of Irindia; Book One: The Gatherer

Author:

D. John Watson

Series:

The Chronicles of Irindia, Book One

Genre:

YA Fantasy

This work is written for those who have a love of fantasy as I do.  this is a book for for anyone who loved the Lord of the Rings and the Inheritance Cycle.

Book Description

There is another world, parallel to ours, that is in desperate need of a hero. Dark forces are trying to take control of a powerful tool, a gateway that will change the face of that world, and ours. Lord Draga will stop at nothing to bring his Master into the world. The only thing standing between him and his goal is the strong will of the young Empress Alassa. Lord Draga cannot take the gateway by force, it must be relinquished voluntarily. Draga has destroyed whole villages in his pursuit of the gateway. How long will Alassa hold out if the last surviving member of her family is in danger? But there is a prophecy, a prophecy that says a savior will come and defeat the evil taking over Irindia.

David Sanchez is like any other normal 13 year old boy. He likes sports, video games, and hanging out with his friends. His father has taken a new job that has moved them 1500 miles from everything David knows and loves. His sister has stayed behind to attend college and his friends are gone, David thinks his life will never be the same again. He doesn't know how right he is. He is unaware of the way his life will change when he makes a silent wish, a selfish wish, because he is angry.

Excerpt from The Chronicles of Irindia

“You will never have control,” she’d told him, calling up all the strength she had in her as she turned a white face from the smudge that had been a trusted advisor.

“Regrettably, you have obligated me to take the city by force,” he’d told her coldly, and she could tell there was no real disappointment in his tone. “Those who die today will do so because you decreed it.  Their deaths are on your head.”

Her armies had fired volley after volley into the ranks of the invading force.  The sky was dark with arrows, and lit by passing balls of flaming pitch, which tore through the ranks of the invaders.  The glow from the many fires outside the walls of the city drove back the darkness after sunset so that the battle continued in an eerie orange glow.  In the early morning the first of the walls had been breached and Alassa knew the city was lost, and with it, her land.  But she could not, would not fully surrender control of the mirror to him, and without the mirror he couldn’t fully control Irindia as he had controlled the western territories that he’d plagued for so long.  Without that surrender, her life was spared.  The gateway he sought had to be given willingly.  That was something she was unprepared to do, no matter the cost.

The following day saw her defending armies driven further back.  Many broke and ran under the onslaught of the demons that now moved with ferocity through the streets in the First Ward.  By midday the second of the three walls was breached, and terror filled the Second Ward.  By dusk, the palace itself was under siege, with the last few defenders struggling to prevent Draga’s warriors from getting through.  It was an ultimately futile hope, and by nightfall the palace itself had fallen.  Draga marched inside once more.  This time it was as the conqueror, not as a guest.
